What a fence costs in Saratoga Springs (2026 prices)

It's the first question almost everyone asks. These are the prices we're seeing around here in 2026, along with what pushes a quote up or down.

Price per foot, by material

Fence quotes are almost always priced by the linear foot, installed. That number covers the panels or boards, posts, concrete, hardware, labor and cleanup.

FenceInstalled, per footNotes
6 ft vinyl privacy$30–$45What most HOAs here call for
4 ft vinyl picket$25–$35Mostly front yards
6 ft cedar or wood privacy$25–$40Less up front, needs stain
4–5 ft black aluminum$40–$60View lots and pools
4–6 ft chain link$15–$25Black coated costs a little more

What gates add

Gates are priced on their own. A 4 or 5 foot walk gate runs about $350 to $700 depending on the material. A double drive gate for an RV pad is more like $1,000 to $2,200, because it needs heavier posts and a lot more hardware to stay straight.

A few typical Saratoga Springs backyards

Most lots here end up needing somewhere between 150 and 250 feet of fence. Some common jobs land roughly like this:

  • 180 feet of 6 ft tan vinyl, one walk gate: about $5,800 to $8,800
  • 220 feet of 6 ft white vinyl, a walk gate and a 12 ft RV gate: about $8,000 to $12,500
  • 160 feet of wood privacy, one walk gate: about $4,400 to $7,100
  • 120 feet of black aluminum around a pool, self-closing gate: about $5,200 to $8,000

What pushes the price up

  • Rocky ground. If we hit a lot of rock, holes take a lot longer to dig.
  • Slopes. Stepping or racking a fence down a hill means more cutting and more time.
  • An old fence to tear out, especially one with posts set in concrete.
  • Lots of corners and short runs. Every corner needs a heavier post and more concrete.
  • Going taller, where the city and your HOA allow it.

Ways to spend a little less

  • Split the shared side with your neighbor. Plenty of people do, and on a 70-foot side line it adds up.
  • Book in the fall. Schedules are a lot more open than in April, and you get to pick your week.
  • Keep the layout simple. Fewer corners and gates means fewer heavy posts.
  • Use chain link along the back where nobody sees it, if your HOA allows it.
